Plant Health Policy Under Spotlight At International Conference

Scientists and industry representatives from across the world will debate plant health policy at a major summit next month.

FERA International Conference On Global Plant HealthStaged on 27-28 October by FERA (Food and Environment Research Agency), the ‘International Conference On Global Plant Health’ aims to bring together the plant health community to explore current and future opportunities to enhance policy.

The two-day event in York will bring together a distinguished range of guest speakers, including the UK Chief Plant Health Officer Professor Nicola Spence, Martin Ward from EPPO (European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization), Professor John Wilson of the World Bank’s Development Research Group, and Greg Fraser from Plant Health Australia.

Sessions on the first day will focus on ‘the economics of food security and the impact of plant pests’, and international perspectives on developing plant health policy. The second day will explore the potential of interdisciplinary science, before concluding with a roundtable discussion on the direction of future plant health policy.
